Frequently asked questions
Are the parts real ZIP files?
Yes. Aback ZIP performs archive-aware splitting: every part is a complete, independently extractable ZIP archive containing a subset of the entries. Parts are never arbitrary byte chunks.
How accurate are the part sizes?
Target size is an approximation. Each part carries its own headers and central directory, so real sizes typically land within a few percent of the target.
What happens if a single file is larger than the target size?
The file is placed in its own part, which will be larger than the target. This is noted in the part preview.
Are my files uploaded when splitting?
No. Splitting happens locally in your browser with zero network activity involving your data.
How are the parts named?
Parts follow the pattern archive.part01.zip, archive.part02.zip, and so on, based on your output name.
